7th December 2024 marked the inaugural Rotary Volunteer Day for District 3450, a first-of-its-kind that brought together District Leaders and Rotarians, and members from both Rotary Community Corp (“RCC”) and Rotary Volunteer Network (“RVH”) whose contributions are being recognized.

The event began with a warm welcome from our emcee, DDS/IPP Tony Leung, who acknowledged the presence of VIPs, including DG Nigel, PDG Eugene Fong (District Community Service Chair), IPDG Andy Li (District Rotary Volunteer Network Chair), IPP Christine Chan (RC Mandarin HK, Rotary Volunteer Day Organizing Committee Chair) and PP Frank Chan (District RCC Chair).

Chair IPP Christine delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of community service and expressing gratitude for the contributions of all volunteers who are our unsung heroes.

DG Nigel shared insights on the impact of our projects, followed by the presentation of certificates to outstanding volunteers, recognizing their exceptional efforts.

IPDG Andy has, on behalf of Rotary Volunteer Network, promoted District 3450’s effort in leveraging on our established resources built by Rotarians who at the same time are professionals and leaders from various sectors. We are fortunate enough to have founded Rotary Volunteer Network RVN with IPDG Andy as the founding chair.

PP Frank, District RCC Chair, has shared stories of how RCCs work for, and work with, Rotary Clubs and magnify our positive impacts to the society and the world as a whole.

Last but not least, PDG Eugene Fong, District Community Service Chair, elaborated the fine difference between Rotary volunteers, RCCs and RVN, and more importantly how all of us work together and build the rapports.

The event also included testimonials from the following Rotary Community Corp (RCC):

  • RCC Futurum (sponsored by RC Kowloon West);
  • RCC Queensway (sponsored by RC Queensway); and
  • RCC LEAD (sponsored by RC Golden Bauhinia HK)

showcasing their successful service projects and the beneficiaries they have helped.

As the event drew to a close, Chair IPP Christine thanked DG Nigel and PDG Eugene for entrusting her with the responsibility of organizing the very first ‘Rotary Volunteer Day’, and the organizing committee who are mostly her ‘IPP classmates’. The day concluded with refreshments, fostering camaraderie among all participants. We look forward to more engaging events in the future!
