50 years service certificate and a special commendation

As we honour Rotarian Alex’s on his 50th anniversary of remarkable service to the Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island East, we take this opportunity to reflect on his extraordinary contributions to both our Rotary community and the broader society.

Rotarian Alex joined our Rotary family in 1974, following in the footsteps of his father, William Ling, who served as President 1967-68 of Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island East. Past President William Ling was not only a dedicated leader but also a partner at Eric Cumine Architects, whose work significantly shaped Hong Kong’s skyline. Rotarian Alex studied Architecture at The University of Hong Kong and later he followed his father’s footsteps and joined Eric Cumine.

In honour of his father’s legacy, Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island East established the ‘William Ling Scholarship,’ fostering future leaders in our community.

The story on Rotarian Alex will not be complete if tennis is not mentioned. This has been his life long passion and commitment, as an accomplished player winning numerous local competitions and representing Hong Kong in the international arena, and later as an ambassador, coach and staunch promoter of the game. His influence on the development of tennis in Hong Kong has been immense. Both Rotarian Alex and RotaryAnne Yuen Yuen are elected Hall of Fame members of the Hong Kong Coaches & Trainers Association. Yuen Yuen herself comes from a distinguishes tennis family.
