Blood & Organ Donation Drives in Rotary Year 2024-25

Goals:

1) The District encourages Rotary and Rotaract clubs to hold small group blood donation events to stable the blood stock.
2) encourages the clubs to have blood donation events with commercial entities and NGOs.
3) encourages the clubs to promote blood and organ donation to the public.

Achievement:

There are 23 Rotary Clubs and District Rotaract held 19 small-group blood donation events. Rotary Club of Lan Kwai Fong also works with PwC and NAAC to have blood donation events.

On March 9th, 2025, we organised “Rotary District 3450 Blood and Organ Donation Day” at D•PARK in Tsuen Wan. 17 Rotary Clubs, District Rotaract, and 7 non-Rotarian entities participating in organising this big event. Almost 160 people showed their interest in donating blood, including about 50 donors of the general public. Of these, 109 people successfully donated blood, giving us an impressive success rate of nearly 70%! What a fantastic result!

To give you some perspective, the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service collected a total of 743 bags of blood on the same day, and about 15% of them came from our event.

So far this Rotary year, 445 Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Hong Kong citizens have registered as part of our district-wide blood donation campaigns. Of these, 320 people have successfully donated blood.

We believe this may be a record high of the blood donation of our District.

The District Health Service Committee is extremely grateful for the hard work and support of all the Presidents, Rotarians, Rotaractors, and friends who joined this meaningful event. Together, we successfully shared an important message with the public: giving blood can save lives. Your involvement was key to making this event successful.
