Maternal and Child Health

Rotary clubs focus on maternal and child health by organizing health fairs, providing vaccinations, and promoting prenatal care. They raise awareness about nutrition and hygiene, collaborating with local health authorities to improve access to services. Fundraising efforts support these initiatives, significantly impacting maternal and child mortality rates.

Rotary clubs in our district support maternal and child health through vaccination campaigns, health education workshops, and prenatal care initiatives. They collaborate with local healthcare providers to enhance access to services, promote nutrition, and raise awareness, significantly improving health outcomes for mothers and children in their communities.

Actions by clubs in Hong Kong

The Rotary Club of Peninsula Sunrise organised a prenatal health workshop for ethnic minority women in Hong Kong. Over 30 pregnant or prepregnant women from various ethnic groups attended it. The Pakistan Association, and United Hospital Nethersole Community Health Service supported this event. This initiative addresses challenges like limited pregnancy health knowledge and medical support. Many participants, facing language barriers, struggle to access care. I would like to take this opportunity to praise President Alice Law, for her efforts in supporting these vulnerable groups. The workshop included sessions on diabetes, gestational hypertension, anemia, and post-natal depression, with health measurements taken for follow-up assistance, showcasing Rotary’s commitment to making a positive impact

Actions by Macau clubs

Rotary Club of Macau

The Rotary Club of Macau addresses high newborn mortality rates in Vietnam, where 75% of deaths are preventable. Collaborating with the Newborn Vietnam organization, the club supports local doctors and nurses by funding their participation in Newborn Life Support courses. After training, these healthcare professionals will become trainers in their clinics, sharing knowledge with colleagues, especially in rural areas. This initiative, identified through assessments at Hanoi National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology, aims to enhance the quality of newborn care and significantly reduce mortality rates, ultimately improving maternal and child health across the region.

Rotary Club of Guia

The Children’s Health Check event, co-organized by the Rotary Club of Guia and the Macao Women’s Federation.. For over 25 years, this initiative has provided health checks for over 120 children, covering oral, eye, and ear health. The event features educational games and workshops promoting health and youth protection education. Parent learned on maintaining children’s eye health and received positive feedback. This annual event fosters community awareness of children’s health, supports inclusive development, and ensures children grow up healthily, laying a strong foundation for their future. The program will continue to promote health education.

Actions by Mongolian Clubs

The Rotary Club of Ulaanbaatar Central provides crucial cervical cancer screenings to women in the South Gobi region of Mongolia. This program has benefited 40,000 women, significantly enhancing access to preventive healthcare and demonstrating Rotary’s commitment to maternal and child health. By facilitating early detection, the initiative aims to reduce cervical cancer rates and improve overall health outcomes for women in underserved communities. Through this vital effort, the club not only addresses a critical health issue but also empowers women, fostering awareness and encouraging proactive health measures for a healthier future.

各位社友和好朋友：

母嬰健康

扶輪社重視母嬰健康，並爲此舉辦各類健康活動、提供疫苗接種，以及推廣產前護理，提升母嬰營養和衛生意識，同時也與當地衛生部門合作，讓有需要的人士更容易得到相應的服務。而籌款活動則為這一切給予支持，在控制母嬰死亡率方面成效顯著。

我們地區内的扶輪社都很支持母嬰健康，積極提供疫苗接種服務、舉辦健康教育研討會，並提倡產前護理。他們與本地的醫療保健機構合作，提供更便利的服務、推廣營養的供給，以及提升大衆的關注，為改善社區内的母嬰健康帶來豐碩的成果。

香港的扶輪社作出的貢獻

半島旭日扶輪社為香港的少數族裔婦女舉辦了產前護理研討會，並得到巴基斯坦協會和基督教聯合那打素社康服務支持。超過30位來自不同族裔的孕婦和准孕婦參加，而參加者當中有不少面對語言障礙，難以得到護理。這個活動協助他們解決諸如懷孕健康知識和醫療支援不足等問題。我必須借此機會感謝羅潔霞社長為這些極需要支援的群體提供協助。這個研討會涵蓋糖尿病、妊娠期高血壓、貧血和產後抑鬱症，以及健康檢查和跟進，盡顯為社區帶來積極正面影響這一扶輪精神。

澳門的扶輪社作出的貢獻

澳門扶輪社

澳門扶輪社協助解決在越南的新生嬰兒死亡率問題，當中有75%死亡個案是可以避免的。該社與越南新生嬰兒組織合作，資助當地的醫生和護士參加新生嬰兒救命課程。完成訓練後，這些醫療專業人員將會成爲訓練員，回到他們的診所，特別是位於郊區的診所，向他們的同事傳授知識。這個活動經河内國家婦產科醫院評核，目的在於提升新生嬰兒護理質素以及大幅降低新生嬰兒死亡率，從而改善跨地區的母嬰健康。

松山扶輪社

松山扶輪社與澳門婦女聯合總會合辦兒童健康檢查。這項活動已舉辦超過25年。是次活動為超過120名兒童提供健康檢查，包括他們的牙齒、眼睛和耳朵健康，同時也為他們準備了具教育意義的遊戲和研討會，以此推廣與健康和保護青年有關的教育。而家長則從中吸取兒童護眼的知識。這個一年一度的活動促進社區對兒童健康的關注、支持包容發展，以及確保兒童能健康成長，為他們的將來奠定穩健的基礎。這個項目將繼續推廣健康教育。

蒙古的扶輪社作出的貢獻

烏蘭巴托中部扶輪社為蒙古的南戈壁地區婦女提供重要的子宮頸癌篩查。這個項目讓40,000名婦女受惠，大幅改善具預防作用的醫療保健服務，特顯扶輪對母嬰健康的承諾。這個項目旨在透過及早檢查減低子宮頸癌的病發率，並在缺乏支援的社區改善婦女的整體健康。該社籌辦這個項目的可貴之處不但在於處理嚴重的健康問題，而且還讓婦女更自主，更注重健康，也鼓勵他們為更健康的將來採取積極的健康措施。
