At Rotary, we are committed to treating everyone with dignity and respect, allowing everyone’s voice to be heard, and providing equitable opportunities for fellowship, service and leadership.

August is ‘Membership and New Club Development Month’.  This is the perfect time to celebrate your club’s members and consider the many options available for strengthening your membership.

Rotary is at its best when we foster a sense of inclusion and belonging in our clubs.

Belonging centers around our members’ experience of feeling accepted, included and respected at Rotary. Every member should feel that their perspective is valued and adds something useful.

Belonging to a team implies a sense of value—that a member is needed and wanted. Even when a club includes marginalized groups or minorities (e.g. race, age gender, profession etc) in its membership or board composition, if the others actively encourage the minorities to voice ideas and input, provide equal opportunity for them to lead projects and grow, etc., this helps them to feel valued and respected. It delivers a sense of belonging.

We know that most members are introduced to Rotary through friends, who may share the same values, background or education.  Let’s grow by inviting people from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives who also share our passion for community and service to join us and become people of action.

World Breastfeeding Week is a global campaign held annually in the first week of August. Coordinated by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), it aims to inform, anchor, engage and galvanise action on breastfeeding and related issues. This event is supported by WHO, UNICEF, governments and civil societies worldwide. Since 2016, WBW have aligned their campaign with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

#WBW2024 will focus on survival, health and wellbeingIt will showcase the need to improve breastfeeding support to reduce inequalities that exist in our society with a special focus on breastfeeding in times of emergencies and crises.
