District Governor Nigel Lo’s Visit to Macau

On September 14, District Governor Nigel Lo made an official visit to Macau, engaging with the boards of eight local Rotary clubs: the Rotary Club of Macau, Hou Kuong, Macau Central, Guia, Macau Islands, Amizade, Penha, and Oriental Pearl. This visit provided a wonderful opportunity for DG Nigel to connect with the vibrant Rotary community, understanding each club’s unique needs and strengths, fostering collaboration, and sharing insights on how the district can better support each club.

Following the meetings, a delightful dinner was held, attended by over 120 Rotarians. DG Nigel began his speech by emphasizing that “the district exists to serve its clubs,” sharing his motto of “Stay Humble, Be Helpful.” He highlighted the district’s role as a vital resource and support for each club. He also introduced the Rotary Action Plan, encouraging clubs to focus on membership retention while expanding efforts to recruit new members. Additionally, he underscored the importance of Mental Health Plus initiatives, urging clubs to prioritize mental health awareness and support within their communities.

During the evening, donors to The Rotary Foundation and new members were recognized, showcasing the significant contributions made by Rotarians in Macau. The night was further enhanced by a spectacular firework display competition, captivating everyone present and adding a festive touch to the occasion.

The combination of meaningful fellowship and joyous celebrations made this visit a memorable experience for all involved, reinforcing the spirit of Rotary and our commitment to community service.


The buzz of excitement filled the room as District Governor Nigel embarked on his official visits to Rotary Clubs in Area 7. His first stop was RC KGM on September 11th, followed by consecutive meetings with RC Kowloon, RC Kowloon North, Peninsula, Peninsula South, Peninsula East, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Dragon HK on September 28th. During board meetings, Governor Nigel emphasized the critical importance of membership growth and retention. He urged clubs to develop comprehensive 5-year plans to achieve their goals. Additionally, he highlighted the significance of mental health initiatives and the need to utilize effective tools to elevate the public image of Rotary.

The board meetings on September 27th were followed by a fun-filled dinner fellowship, which was attended by around 80 members. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for members from different clubs in Area 7 to bond, engage in games, and celebrate together. The evening was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a sense of community.

The Governor’s inspiring message resonated with members, motivating them to expand their reach, increase their impact, and enhance engagement within their communities. By adapting to changing trends and embracing innovation, Rotary Clubs in Area 7 are poised to make a lasting difference.
