We are thrilled to announce that the Intercity Meeting in honor of Rotary International President Stephanie A. Urchick took place at the Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel on November 18, 2024. More than 210 Rotarians, Rotaractors, and guests representing 78 clubs in Hong Kong and Macau congregated. The venue’s ambiance was warm and convivial, making it the perfect spot for this event.

We were privileged to hear President Urchick’s inspirational message, which emphasized the Action Plan as both a motivational and working tool, along with the accompanying strategic planning that goes with it. Her words served as a powerful reminder of our purpose: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and to uphold the values that define Rotary.

District Governor Nigel Lo spoke about how privileged we are to have Rotary International President visiting our district. There are 52 weeks in a year and about 520 districts within the Rotary International family. To visit all districts in a year, the president would have to visit 10 per week. Yet, President Stephanie has given her undivided attention only to our district for one and a half weeks. Hong Kong is well known as Asia’s World City. We value our prime location in Asia. Our district, 3450, has been tirelessly working on projects that address critical issues such as education, health, and environmental sustainability. Our clubs are making a tangible impact. He is excited to share a new initiative within District 3450—a service project showcase. This initiative highlights the remarkable work across our district and encourages clubs to collaborate more effectively. By sharing successes and learning from one another, we can achieve an even greater impact. This showcase serves as a platform for idea exchange and partnership building, reflecting the true spirit of Rotary.

During the event, our District Foundation team acknowledged new Paul Harris Fellows, Benefactors, Major Donors, and Arch Klumph Society members. The District Membership team recognized the newly chartered Rotaract Club of Kowloon, celebrated members reaching 50 years of service, and honored clubs with retention rates of 90% or higher.

The evening concluded with live jazz music, providing a wonderful atmosphere for fellowship among members. Let us honor President Urchick not only through our words but also through our actions. Together, let us commit to being ambassadors of her vision and embodying the spirit of Rotary in all that we do. By working together, we can create a ripple effect of positive change that reaches far beyond our own communities.
